Let's Get Crump! Success Working with OAI

Wayne Crump came to OAI in December 2018 and was enrolled in DCEO Youth Career Pathways (YCP) Manufacturing Program. The YCP program provides our youth between the ages of 18-24 with a chance to attain 4 nationally recognized credentials:

·        Forklift Operator Certification

·        OSHA 10 Hour Certification

·        National Incident Management System (NIMS) 1

·        National Incident Management System (NIMS) 2

This program also engaged the youth with many local manufacturing company tours. One of the tours that stood out to Wayne was Morrison Container Handling Solutions. Wayne was so compelled with the tour; he wrote a thank note – we’ve never had any intern to express their appreciation ever! OAI immediately forwarded the note to Morrison CHS.  

Upon completing the training, each intern is offered the opportunity to complete a 7-week paid manufacturing internship. Wayne, without a doubt brilliantly completed training earning his 4 nationally recognized credentials and his 7-week paid internship. Wayne’s intern at the company he had envisioned himself during the tour, Morrison Container in Glenwood, IL. Needless to say, he was very eager to start his internship and learn all he could. Now fast forward 7 weeks, Morrison Container has employed Wayne as a full-time Mechanical Design Engineer Trainee earning a competitive salary.
